The Artemis II crew is officially orbiting the moon, but before they got there, the four astronauts took some time to sit down with members of the press and share what this experience has been like for them. This includes pilot Victor Glover, who, in a recent social media video, took the time to send an inspiring message to those watching from the ground. To read what he said, keep scrolling.

While aboard the Orion spaceship, Glover and the rest of his crew discussed what their experience has been like so far and how it feels seeing nothing but a never-ending oasis of black sky lined with an infinite number of stars.
“This is a whole bunch of nothing, this thing we call the Universe. You have this oasis [Earth, which is] this beautiful place that we get to exist together,” Glover said. “I think as we go into Easter Sunday, thinking about all the cultures all around the world, whether you celebrate it or not, whether you believe in God or not, this is an opportunity for us to remember where we are, who we are, that we are the same thing and that we got to get through this together.”
Also in the speech, Glover took the time to compare Earth to the spaceship he and his crew are traveling in.
“I think that for me, one of the really important personal perspectives that I have up here, I can really see Earth as one thing,” he said. “When I read the Bible and I look at all of the amazing things that were done for us who were created, it’s you. You have this amazing place, this spaceship. You guys are talking to us because we’re in a spaceship really far from Earth, but you’re on a spaceship called Earth that was created to give us a place to live in the universe, in the cosmos.”
“Maybe the distance we are from you makes you think what we’re doing is special, but we’re the same distance from you,” he continued. “I’m trying to tell you, just trust me, you are special in all of this emptiness.”

A look at what’s left in the Artemis II mission
The Artemis II is currently orbiting the moon to get photos that will help scientists understand it and space as a whole. They are the first team to venture this far into deep space, and the journey has become one of the most discussed events of 2026 thus far.
“Being human up here is one of the coolest things about this mission,” Mission Specialist Christina Koch told NBC News this past weekend. “We are just people trying to get by. For example, we might go look at the far side of the moon and take in its awesomeness and then go, ‘Hmm, maybe I should change my socks,’ and try to dig around for a pair of socks. So this is the dichotomy of human spaceflight.”
In addition to photos of the moon, the team will also get photos of the Earth—some of which have already been shared with the public—as well as the sun. These documents are expected to be the clearest images of deep space ever taken by a human.
“Right away, you are humbled,” Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen told the outlet. “The fact that four of us get to be out here just brings you to your knees.”
“I know those photos are amazing,” he continued. “But let me assure you, it is another level of amazing up here.”
All four astronauts are expected to return to Earth in the upcoming days. Following that, they will head back to NASA and study what they discovered in space. Their findings are expected to help NASA prepare for a 2028 trip to the moon. As of publication, that crew has not been selected by the organization.
