Audrey Hepburn is one of the biggest movie stars of all time, and even though it’s been over 30 years since her death, people still talk about her and want to learn more. One way to do that? Through a biopic centered around Audrey’s time filming Breakfast at Tiffany’s in the early 1960s. Woman’s World recently caught up with Audrey’s son Sean Hepburn Ferrer to learn how he feels about the biopic and to discover what really happened on the highly talked about film’s sets. Read on for more.

What we know so far about the Audrey Hepburn biopic

The Audrey biopic has been in the works for 10 years. There weren’t a lot of updates surrounding the cast and plot, but earlier this year that all changed after Emily in Paris star Lily Collins announced that she would be starring as Audrey in a film inspired by Sam Wasson’s bestselling book, Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.

“It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able to share this,” Collins wrote on Instagram. “Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel.”

Following that announcement, many people were wondering how Audrey’s friend and family felt about the idea of someone playing her. And now, after weeks of wondering, Sean is finally shedding some light on how he reacted.

“I have to be honest, I’m very excited, because I like Lily very much,” he tells Woman’s World. “I’ve watched Emily in Paris as much as I could have. I haven’t watched Emily in Rome yet, because I don’t think I can take that much. My teeth will fall out of my head.”

“My big concern, because I know Sam quite well, is the making of it, because the whole thing revolves around one photograph of my mother standing on 5th Avenue,” he continues. “I’m not sure how you adapt that into a film and make it interesting. There’s not a whole lot of drama.”

Sean Hepburn Ferrer shares some ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ set secrets

Since the release of Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961 there have been many rumors about what really happened on set. One of the biggest revolved around the rumor that Marilyn Monroe was Truman Capote’s—the original Breakfast at Tiffany’s authorfirst choice for Holly Golightly. And according to Sean, that really happened!

Were Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn Friends

“That was kind of on-the-nose casting,” he explains. “If you read the novella,  it’s the Norma Jean [which was Monroe’s real name] story and I can understand why Marilyn said no, because she probably felt like she was going to be playing herself. How do you do that? It’s not very interesting. But if you take someone like Audrey Hepburn, which is the last thing you expect her to do, it’s going to create something completely new. And I think it worked.”

Sean Hepburn Ferrer reveals that another Audrey Hepburn film is in the works

Collins’ biopic might be the highly publicized one, but according to Sean there’s a whole other film that’s being made as well.

“It’s called Dinner with Audrey and it’s about an imaginary night between Audrey Hepburn and [Count Hubert de] Givenchy,” he says. “This film basically imagines what happened after my mother and  Givenchy met.  Maybe they go to dinner and spend an evening together. I don’t know the details of it, but it sounds charming.”
