Tommy Lee Jones is making headlines again, but for tragic reasons and not for his acting skills. On New Year’s Day, the Award winner’s daughter, Victoria Kafka Jones, was found dead in San Francisco, California. She was 34-years-old and was Tommy’s youngest child. What follows is an inside look at their  relationship as well as details on Tommy’s other child, Austin Leonard Jones, who was nine years older than his late sister.

Austin was born on November 9 1982 to Tommy and then wife Kimberlea Cloughley. He is now 43-years-old and works as an actor and composer, with his work appearing in The Good Old Boys (1995) and The Homesman (2014), which he worked on with his father.

“We had two sources of music; one is history, songs from the past. We had a music supervisor who went through the archives of 19th century music that would have been expected in that part of the world. That music supervisor, I am happy to say, is my son; Austin Leonard Jones, who is the banjo player on the barge at the end of the movie,” Tommy told Movies.IE of The Homesman in 2014.

Austin is now 43-years-old and as of publication, he has not commented on the passing of his younger sister Victoria.

Victoria was Tommy and Kimberlea’s second daughter. She was born on September 3, 1991 and, much like her father and brother, decided to go into the film industry. Her acting credits included Men in Black II (2002), Sorry, Haters (2005), One Tree Hill (2005) and The Horseman (2014).

“She’s a good actress, has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish,” Tommy explained. “When she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nurse, to speak to her in Spanish. But I fired my daughter. She had to get up at 5 a.m. for her part. One morning, she wouldn’t get out of bed. I said, ‘Honey, this is work.’ But she wouldn’t budge. So I fired her,” Tommy told The New Yorker in 2006, per US Weekly. “Then, without telling me, the production staff went over and woke her and rushed her out to the set just in time.”

In later years, Victoria experienced a series of legal troubles. In 2011, she was arrested in San Antonio, Texas, on a theft charge involving an amount between $50 and $500. More recently, in 2025, she pleaded not guilty to charges of using or being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a narcotic controlled substance. Later that same year, she also entered not-guilty pleas to charges of domestic battery and domestic violence/elder abuse—cases that were reportedly still ongoing at the time of her death.

As of publication, it’s believed that Victoria died from an overdose and foul play was believed to be involved as well.
