Like so many other women, Emma Heming Willis, 47, once went to her doctor after experiencing brain fog symptoms, but was quickly dismissed. They said it was nothing serious, just stress, exhaustion and “mommy brain.” Not comfortable with that diagnosis, Willis went to a brain health doctor, who introduced her to the importance of brain health. From there, an idea was born. A vitamin business led by Willis and her co-creator, Helen Christoni, centered on helping women “make time” for both themselves and their minds. Woman’s World recently caught up with both Willis and Christoni to learn more about both their vitamin brand and their own personal stories that have had them dealing with things like Alzheimer’s and dementia, among other things.. Emma Heming Willis opens up about brain fog and dismissed symptoms
In May 2023, Willis and Christoni launched a vitamin brand called Make Time Wellness, which is centered around helping women make their minds and bodies the best that they could possibly be.
“After I sought out a brain health doctor, he introduced me to the term brain health, which I had never heard before. For someone who’s pretty up to speed on wellness, this was just something new that I had never heard of, and he introduced me to the pillars of great brain health. Through lifestyle change and these vitamins that he had me on, I started to see a shift and the fog started to lift,” Willis shared. “The issue was just the sustainability of taking handfuls of vitamins, multiple times a day. And I said to Helen, ‘I would love to be able to take all of these things that I am taking that are really helping, and just have a very sort of comprehensive thing. I want to be able to drink it or chew it. I don’t want to be swallowing these vitamins.’ And then Helen was, like, ‘This is in my wheelhouse. Let’s absolutely do this.’”
As a result, the company offers several different products, ranging from multivitamins to beauty, sleep and even a Brain, Body, & Beauty powder that Christoni says is her favorite.
“It really checks the boxes that women need every day,” she said. “We’ve got brain health in there, we’ve got a woman’s multivitamin in there. We’ve got a lot of beauty supplements in there, and things that have been really well researched. Cognizant, which is our brain health ingredient that we use in the formula, has been studied on women. That was really important for us, and it really helps with your focus and attention. So when women start making time for brain, body and beauty, they’ll notice a difference. That was our first, our hero product, and it’s absolutely my favorite.”
Willis concurred, saying, “That’s my favorite, too, but I also love our sleep gummies, which are really helpful for me when I need to get some ZZZs. So I’ve been really enjoying that one as well.”

Along with the vitamins, the two women also launched a podcast entitled Make Time, where they talk to brain experts and provide women with tips on how to get their minds as sharp as possible.
“The Make Time podcast is where we really drill down on the six pillars of brain health and share really actionable things that women can do,” Christoni said. “Like turn off your GPS when you’re going somewhere.”
Willis chimed in to share that “another one that’s fun is if you brush your teeth with your right hand, try switching to your left. If you are going to the grocery store, don’t make a grocery list. Just try to know what that grocery list is.”
Currently, the company is working on raising awareness for Alzheimer’s since September is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. It was recently reported that one in five women has Alzheimer’s, and Willis and Christoni are hoping that through both their vitamins and their podcast, they’ll be able to help educate and inform people about both the disease and how people around them can help.

“Women always put themselves last. We are the last on our list, always. And I think it’s okay for us to know that it’s okay to fill our cup, and that you can’t pour from an empty cup. That’s a very simple message, but it’s something that we’re not used to. And when we don’t care for ourselves, it’s very hard for us to continue to care for all the people in our lives that we love.”
Christoni added onto that by saying, “I think that if women were to put their voices behind this one in five Make Time movement and we really start talking about this, we can be the change.”
Emma on supporting Bruce Willis through dementia
In recent years, it was shared with the public that Willis’ husband, Bruce, age 70, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), something that they both have been very open and honest about in interviews and on social media.
“I think by learning about my own brain health and my own journey, it’s been helpful in terms of just being able to support him [Bruce] and our two young daughters while learning what a brain-healthy lifestyle looks like,” she shared with Woman’s World. “ I’m thrilled that we’re able to have this conversation and be able to talk to women. We donate 5% of all proceeds to Hilarity for Charity, which is helping families going through Alzheimer’s and educating the next generation of brain-healthy advocates.”

Along with all of that, Willis also shared what she wants people to know about dementia, saying, “It’s a terrible disease, but I also think it’s really important that when we get these diagnoses, just to understand that life is not over because of it. It’s really important that people know that there is still joy and that there is still laughter to be had. Dementia is terrible, but I also think it’s important to understand that there are ways not to paint it in such a horrific narrative. And I’m not saying that it’s not, but I just think that when we paint it that way, it’s taking away from the person who has the disease and also not being very supportive of the caregiver. Yeah, it’s a terrible disease, but there is so much joy to be had as well while you’re walking through it.”
Helen Christoni shares her own brain health story
Throughout her life, Christoni has also dealt with several different cases of brain health, telling Woman’s World, “My grandmother—my Nana—had dementia and that had such a profound impact on me. To see her lose her cognitive ability and really kind of spending time with her, the latter part of her life really had a very sad effect on me.”

“So I think that that’s definitely really kind of given me a lot of purpose. Another important thing is that my stepmother, just a few years ago, passed away from FTD. I knew that she had dementia, but I didn’t know that she had FTD until I was literally sitting in a conference with Emma and heard someone talking about PSP, which is Progressive Supranuclear Palsy,” she continued. “And so I think it’s really important that we’re so clear and consistent about cognition and that women are aware of it. It’s very personal for us.”
