When we reflect on Audrey Hepburn today, we usually remember the award-winning actress in her youth, hardly surprising consider that she starred in her most memorable films — Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961), Funny Face (1957), Charade (1963), and Roman Holiday (1953) — when she was still in her 20s and 30s.

Yet to us, she was just as gorgeous when she reached age 50 and beyond as she was then, and, after you see these six fabulous photos of Audrey Hepburn older, we think you’ll agree.

In the later years of her life, the late Hepburn did take a rather long break from acting and decided to focus more on maintaining her status as a goodwill ambassador at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). She also elected to spend more time with her two sons (Sean Hepburn Ferrer and Mel Ferrer), while in a very serious relationship with actor Robert Wolders during the later years of her life. Hepburn often referred to him as her husband, though they never wed.

Sadly, Hepburn died in January 1993 after a long and hard battle with colon cancer — she was only 63 at the time. And even though the actress might not have looked physically aged, she sometimes felt it, expressing, “What is important isn’t looking old, but to feel old. When you can’t contribute anymore, that’s when you start feeling old, and that’s the beginning of the end.”

We simply have to disagree, though, because these photos of Audrey Hepburn showcase just how beautiful and lively the actress was in the later years of her life.

One thing that everyone loved about Hepburn was her sense of style. Not only was it classic and modest, but it was also timeless and easy to replicate. And that is exactly what we see here in this photo of the actress in 1988. Not only is the black and white top a peice we could totally wear today, but it is also something that could easy be dressed up or down or taken from day to night. Come on Audrey tell us where you got it!

It’s no secret that Hepburn was an avid support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). In fact she even became a goodwill ambassador for them later in her life, and based on this photo taken on her first field mission to Ethiopia in 1988 we can see why! Not only is the actress grinning from ear to ear, but viewers can clearly tell that this type of work was what this starlet was made for. Well, that and acting of course!

Hepburn was no stranger to award shows. Over the course of her career she won one Oscar, one Emmy, one Grammy and two Tonys making her one of nineteen people in the world to have all four of those prestigious awards. And this picture of her on the red carpet for the 1992 Academy Awards really shows why. Okay, well technically Hepburn and Robert Wolders never officially married, the two were in a very serious and very loving relationship up until her death. In fact, Wolders even one said “She [Hepburn] viewed us as being married. There were times in order to avoid confusion that she would present me as, ‘My husband, Rob,’ but never as, ‘my partner,’ or, ‘my life partner,’ or anything like that. What always pleased me or always sounded so nice was, ‘Have you met my Rob?’ Or, ‘This is my Rob.’” How cute is that!
